Design Concept

Hello everyone, I’m Yuni. This collaboration with "Sword Art Online" is truly exciting. As an anime enthusiast, I certainly couldn't miss this opportunity. The virtual world within SAO and the emotional bond between Kirito and Asuna feel very much like the Metaverse while remaining deeply sincere. Therefore, I wanted to design a watch that captures their couple’s style and the sci-fi gaming elements of the series.

After some thought, I decided to focus on their weapons, as weapons in games are always objects of fascination and anticipation. I turned Kirito’s dual blades, "Elucidator" and "Dark Repulser," into the hour and minute hands, while using Asuna’s rapier, "Lambent Light," as the fast-moving second hand. Using these three blades as the conceptual hands, I added the "Black Swordsman’s" black background, the "Knights of the Blood" red and white numerical indices, and incorporated metal-cut logos representing the pair at the top and bottom positions, symbolizing the 1-100 floor levels. Finally, on the case back, I engraved the "Aincrad" floating tower, the stage where they met and their story began. I hope that through the combination of these elements, we have created the most beloved "Sword Art Online Collaboration Watch"!

For the watch box design, we focused on storage functionality, providing dedicated spaces for the watch's various components. The outer packaging continues the classic yunivers hsieh style, maintaining a low-key black aesthetic, while enhancing the quality of the gift box through fine details such as the velvet lining in the storage compartments and the tactile feel of the opening/closing mechanism.
